Description
This model is made in the style of Richard Meares’ 1660 English consort bass. It is the best all-round six-string bass viol, well-suited for a wide variety of repertoire.
The plain model features good-quality, aged wood, a matte finished, and minimal decorative purfling around the edges of the instrument. The fingerboard and tailpiece are solid, plain maple and the pegs are rosewood.
The decorative model features a high-quality, fine-grain wood with a thick, glossy finish and ornate decorative purfling on the belly, back and edges of the instrument. The fingerboard and tailpiece will either have an ebony veneer, a burled maple veneer, or an ebony veneer with a maple border. Pegs are also of ebony. On a decorated model, the pegbox can also be carved with a decorative inlay for an extra charge.
This instrument is sold with a hard case.
